This session looked at the practical aspects of managing large datasets.
Hemant Kelkar gave an introduction to the topic illustrating problems of storing, tracking and moving large volumes of data generated in a core facility. Image:Hemant Kelkar ISMB2010.pdf
Mario Caccamo then gave a talk describing the LIMS system he has commissioned for the newly established TGAC genome centre showing the practical decisions he has taken to overcome the problems previously described.
