Qualifications Summary I am an environmental health data science professional with more than 15 years of experience in environmental health effects research, project management, and program development. As a data scientist at NIEHS I provide vision and leadership for new program development around environmental health science data within and across divisions at NIEHS and NIH. Many of these new programs have taken the shape of interdisciplinary collaborations, building from existing institute NIEHS informatics investments to works towards the goals of the 2012-2017 NIEHS Strategic Plan. I previously worked as a manager with technical, project management, staff development, and business development responsibilities.

Applicable Responsibilities Developing and implementing innovative programs, products, and services. Leading organizations and teams through strategic growth and transition. Facilitating strategic planning processes, and translating to operational goals for execution. Leading and contributing to publications and conference presentations. Working with stakeholder groups including: boards, committees, junior staff, and external audiences. Building and maintaining exceptional staff through recognized mentoring and capability building. Overseeing and coordinating all aspects of budgeting and financial management, including contract management.

Education University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill MSPH Environmental Science and Engineering, Gillings School of Global Public Health, 2008 BS, Biology, 1999

Professional Experience National Institute of Environmental health scienceS, Durham NC Data Scientist, Jan 2013 – present Build from my past experience and working knowledge in the environmental health sciences, including molecular biology and genomics, to develop a research data vision and implementation plan for NIEHS with the goal of leveraging data assets to address public health issues. Identify potential projects and collaborations through interactions with broad stakeholder groups to catalyze scientific advancements in chemical safety and public health by creating and leading pilot-project teams around a scientific need. Provide frequent updates to NIEHS and NIH leadership. Represent NIEHS within the NIH BD2K initiative and serve as Science Officer on the Data Discovery Index, Frameworks for Community Based Standards, and The Center for Predictive Computational Phenotyping. Identify and present environmental health science data initiatives at professional societies and workshop events. Manage the NIEHS Library services and staff and have a level 2 Federal Acquisition Certification-Contracting Officer's Representative. Specific projects include: Environmental Health Science Common Language: 2 workshops (2013, 2014), workshop report, collaborations with IARC, NTP, and EPA NIH Big Data 2 Knowledge: serve on management working groups to shape and carry out the Data Discovery Index, Community Based Standards, National Standards Information Resource, and the Center for Predictive Computational Phenotyping Intramural Laboratory Information and Data Management System: develop a first ever process for accessing the NIEHS intramural staff needs for a information/data management system, lead effort from conception to installation Extramural Data Sharing Plans: work with extramural research to draft data sharing policies, and identify strategic investments and research organizations for infrastructure support National Children’s Study Redirect: serve on the planning and oversight committees for the extramural and National Toxicology Program's efforts in developmental health; leading the data centric and infrastructure needs assessment

ICF International, Durham NC Project Manager- Toxicology , July 2009 – Jan 2013 Managed several technical and high-profile human health assessment proposals and project implementations requiring coordination of interdisciplinary teams. Project specialties included critical evaluation of human health and chemical safety data, mode of action assessment and high throughput screening analysis, development and application of risk assessment methodology, assessment of exposures, development of regulatory documents (i.e., Integrated Science Assessments, Emission Inventories, Integrated Risk Information Systems, Provisional Peer Reviewed Toxicity Values, REACH Dossiers) and support of technical working groups. Responsible for National Institute of Health new business development that included: building internal competencies, lead generation, meeting prospective clients, strategy development, proposal management, and contract execution. National Institute of Environmental health scienceS, Durham NC Molecular Biologist, Aug 2003 – July 2009 Developed methods for calcium channel identification through genomic analysis and molecular cloning. Responsible for project management, document tracking and process control. Identified research and implement new technologies in the lab. Wrote and evaluated guidance and technical documents, contributed to scientific publications.
