Before becoming fascinated with microbiome research, he studied the pathogenomics of opportunistic pathogens through integration of multi-omic data from experiments that mimic host-microbe interactions and otherwise perturb bacterial cell function, at the US Food and Drug Administration. Galeb has a PhD in Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology from Michigan State University, and a DVM from the University of Belgrade, Serbia.</div>
